Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Fakeality (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our iOS application.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account identifier: When you first use the app, we automatically create an account with a randomly generated identifier. No registration or personal information is required to play or to purchase credits. You can optionally sign in with Sign in with Apple to access your credits from your other devices; if you do, Apple provides us with a unique identifier and (optionally) your name and email address. We do not see your real Apple ID or password.
- In-game choices, text you type, and progress: We store the choices you make in the game, any free text you enter (custom actions at choice points, text exchanges with characters, and custom-story setup fields), your character’s state, and your progress through episodes. This is required for the game to function and for your story to remain consistent across sessions. Please don’t enter personal information about yourself or others in these fields — the game doesn’t need it, and anything you type becomes part of your story content and is processed as described below.
- Purchase and credit records: When you buy credits, we store the transaction identifier and your resulting credit balance so we can deliver what you paid for and prevent duplicate charges. Payment itself is processed by Apple — we never receive your card number or payment details.
Information collected automatically
- Crash and diagnostic data: If the app crashes, basic technical information (device model, OS version, error context) may be collected via Apple’s standard crash reporting. This is governed by your iOS device privacy settings.
- API request logs: When the app generates story content, we log basic metadata about the request (timestamp, scene context, response time) for debugging and quality improvement. These logs do not include personally identifying information beyond your account identifier.
Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your real name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, photos, or any other personal information unless you provide it explicitly through the optional Sign in with Apple.
- We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
- We do not track your activity across other apps or websites.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Authenticate your account and maintain your session
- Generate, store, and retrieve your in-game story content
- Deliver and keep an accurate record of the credits you purchase
- Diagnose problems and improve the app
- Communicate with you about important changes to the service (rare)
How We Share Information
We share limited information with the following third parties, only as necessary to provide the service:
- Apple: Provides authentication via Sign in with Apple and processes in-app purchases. Apple’s privacy policy governs their handling of your information.
- Supabase: Hosts our backend infrastructure (database, authentication, edge functions). Your account identifier, game state, and credit balance are stored on Supabase servers. See Supabase’s privacy policy at https://supabase.com/privacy.
- AI providers (story generation): The story content in Fakeality is generated by third-party AI services. When the app generates dialogue or scene descriptions, the relevant game context — character state, recent choices, scene premise, any free-text actions you enter at choice points, any messages you type in text exchanges with characters, and any text you enter when creating a custom story — is sent from our servers to an AI provider. Your account identifier is not sent. Depending on the model in use, that provider is:
- OpenAI (https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy)
- Anthropic (https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy)
- OpenRouter, an AI routing service that forwards the request to the AI model’s provider or a vetted hosting partner. Which downstream provider serves a given request depends on the model and on availability; OpenRouter’s privacy policy (https://openrouter.ai/privacy) and the downstream provider’s policy govern their handling. We restrict routing to a fixed list of hosts we have vetted.
- Anthropic (operations): Separately from story generation, when investigating bugs or quality issues, server-side logs and diagnostic information — which may include game content and your account identifier — may be reviewed using Anthropic’s Claude model.
We do not sell your information to anyone.
Data Retention
Your account and game state are retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and its associated data at any time directly in the app (Settings → Delete Account), or by contacting us at the email below. Records of purchases may be retained after account deletion where required for accounting, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes.
API request logs are retained for up to 90 days for debugging purposes.
Your Rights
You can:
- Sign out of the app at any time (if you’ve signed in with Apple)
- Delete your account and associated data directly in the app (Settings → Delete Account)
- Request a copy of the data we have associated with your account
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.
Children
Fakeality is intended for users 16 years of age and older. The game may contain mature themes, situations, and language appropriate for an older audience. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the app or via the email associated with your Apple ID.
